Interdisciplinary action

In 2021, the institute will fund several "interdisciplinary actions" worth between €1,000 and €2,000. This scheme will support clearly identified, time-bound scientific actions carried out in the field, in the laboratory or in archives. It will aim to encourage synergies and promote the skills and equipment of teams within the institute.

Projects will be collaborative, involving the participation of at least two of the institute's member laboratories. Only permanent staff are eligible.

Examples of eligible actions

Sampling and analysis, field surveys, prospecting, laboratory experimentation, digitization or analysis of archival documents using new processes. Archaeological excavation is not eligible as such, but the action can take place during an excavation operation.

Evaluation criteria

  • Experimental and inventive nature of the project, as part of a broader research program in line with the Institute's scientific priorities;
  • Use and development of the skills and equipment of the Institute's member laboratories;
  • Articulation with training: participation of student trainees from Aix-Marseille Université or from partner institutions (primarily from the CIVIS consortium or Mediterranean universities), linking the project to a teaching unit... ;
  • Co-financing (laboratories' own resources, external funding).

Eligible expenses

  • Only the following operating expenses are eligible: mission expenses for team members, internship bonuses, consumables and small equipment (< €800 excl. VAT, except audiovisual equipment, for which the threshold is set at €400 excl. VAT);
  • Ineligible expenses include services, translation and publishing costs, expenses related to the organization of scientific or public events, computer hardware, and all capital expenditure and payroll costs.
