Workshop

The "chantier-accueil" scheme supports field operations run by the institute's community for Aix-Marseille Université students, both in France and Internationally.

Context

By "worksite" we mean any research activity carried out outside laboratory walls: excavations, prospecting and surveys of archaeological remains, coring and other off-site sampling, activities carried out in archives or museum collections.

In the context of our Training program, we make a distinction between school workcamps, organized as part of a compulsory teaching unit and leading to an assessment, and host workcamps, in which students take part on their own initiative as part of non-compulsory internships to complete their training.

Eligibility

Applications must be submitted by those in charge of field operations at the Institute's member laboratories, who can demonstrate that they are hosting and providing on-site training for students and PhD students regularly enrolled at Aix-Marseille Université.

The participation of students from other French and foreign universities is also welcome and encouraged.

Terms and conditions

The Institute provides assistance with operating expenses, contributing to full-board student accommodation, the purchase of small equipment and the provision of services.

Student participation in field operations must be formalized by an internship agreement.

Application

The scheme is open on a rolling basis. Project managers are invited to contact the Institute as early as possible for further information.

Each application is examined by the Institute within the limits of the annual funds available.
