Land mobility

The " Mobility to the Mediterranean" program supports the deployment of Aix-Marseille Université students on the grounds of the Institute's international community and/or the attraction of students enrolled in a foreign institution on the grounds of the Institute's community, in France and internationally.

Eligibility

Applications are submitted by those responsible for field operations within the Institute's member laboratories.

All types of field operations are eligible (excavations, prospecting, drilling and coring on and off archaeological sites, architectural surveys, etc.) as long as the operation falls within the Institute's scientific perimeter.

All students and PhD students regularly enrolled at Aix-Marseille Université or a foreign university are eligible.

Terms and conditions

Only the travel expenses of French or foreign students to the field are covered, to the exclusion of all other expenses.

Students' participation in field operations must be formalized by an internship agreement.

Application

The scheme is open on a rolling basis. Project managers are invited to contact the Institute as early as possible for further information.

Each application is examined by the Institute within the limits of the annual funds available.

Fionat Cornet
Master's student in "Archaeology, sciences for archaeology" at Aix-Marseille Université

Thanks to the Institute's "Mobilité vers les terrains méditerranéens" program, I took part in three excavations on the site of the Greek colony of Megara Hyblaea, in Sicily, to build up my corpus of study and prepare my Master's thesis. It was an excellent opportunity to put into practice the theoretical knowledge I had acquired at university.
